DENNIS BERGKAMP
Yesterday was indeed a sad day in football bcoz dennis bergkamp has choose to hang his boots. Playing in his testimonial match in the newly-opened Emirates Stadium, Bergkamp retains his coolness on the field and opt to praise the team and fans instead for their support throughout the years and did admit that it's a shame that he couldn't play in the new stadium. Lots of ex-Arsenal and ex-Ajax came to commemorate this eventful day in respect to the retirement of a genius in football. Seaman, Winterburn, Grimandi, Petit, Vieira, Overmars, Parlour, Kanu, Helder, Wright, Henry, Van Bronckhorst, Davids, Stam, Van Der Sar, Winter, Ronald De Boer, Van Basten, and even Cryuff came to play in that match.
I always love Bergkamp since the first time i saw him played. Y not. the reason i choose to support Arsenal FC was bcoz of his awesome partnership with fellow Dutchman, Marc Overmars. He's the one who started to play in the 'hole' role behind a striker. He is a model profesional and always gave his all in every match. He even trained for his testimonial match!!! i had watched his first 100 goals at Arsenal n i can tell you guys that more than half of them are outstanding.
Here are a few famous example:
The most memorable goal against Newcastle..
against Argentina in WC98 quater final in the last minute of the match!!! oh ya, the commentator shouted bergkamp's name 8 times..hahaha
here's a clarer view of Bergkamps' outstanding technique, ball control and calmness
This is in season 97-98, when Arsenal do the double 1st goal against Leicester..
2nd goal against Leicester..
3rd goal for his hat-trick, once again, notice his technique, ball control, calmness and creativity..
there are many more Bergkamp goals alike, but what is more important is that Bergkamp not only a scorer, he's a great passer. Many of his assist came from his killer through balls as a result from his extraordinaty vision.
notice Vieira 3rd and 6th goal, resulting from Bergkamp pass..then 3rd goal was extraordinary, try n replicate it..
His arrival in the EPL revolutionize the game to concentrate more on first touch and technique.
So long Dennis!!! you'll always be in our heart!!!
